What Is An Adjunct Nursing Instructor: What You Should Know According To Thought Leaders

what is an adjunct nursing instructor

Nursing Presentation Diane Logan, M.S.N., a clinical instructor in Seton Hall's College of Nursing , brought a clinical group from her Community Health Perspectives course to teach children about healthy living during a recent Health Fair held at Cicely Tyson Elementary School in East Orange. Senior Nursing students shared information on maintaining a healthy environment through presentations on poster boards. The presentation boards were the product of a teaching assignment the nursing students completed the week before at Essex Junior Academy in Cedar Grove. For the assignment, students prepared a teaching plan meant to instruct children on hygiene, coping skills, and hand washing. Alongside her students, Professor Logan also presented her own work and a display in support of her current Ph.D. program. As part of their clinicals, nursing students take the Community Health Perspectives course, which focuses on identifying health problems of communities and giving students insight into community based nursing efforts and activities. Logan states that the class teaches "how to become educators – to be outspoken and effectively explain evidence-based practice and adapt it to a given audience ranging from children to the elderly." Assumpta Ekeh, an adjunct professor at the College of Nursing and school nurse at Cicely Tyson Elementary, organized the health fair event. The fair also featured various vendors, including massage therapists, members of police and fire departments, nutrition specialists from Shop Rite, a podiatrist, and others who presented health-related information to the students.
